Principal Dancers
Azemia LasHley
Azemia (“Mia”) began training with The Ithaca Ballet at age nine. She went on to dance with the company for a number of years before graduating in 2022. Notable roles she has danced with The Ithaca Ballet include Coffee, and Dewdrop Fairy (The Nutcracker), Wicked Queen (Snow White), Cuckoo Bird (Carnival of the Animals), Larry Brantley's "Boyce Ball", and many more.
After graduation Mia went on to spend a season training and performing in New York City with Chevalier Ballet where she performed notable classical roles including Myrtha (Giselle), and Waltz Soloist (Chopiniana). During her time with Chevalier Ballet she also completed a tour of England, reprising classical roles, in addition to performing original works by Sara Knight such as "Joplin" and "New York Stories" -- all while engaging in incredibly enriching community outreach.
Mia has also dabbled in choreography, including two pieces previously performed by The Ithaca Ballet -- "Disconnect", and "Faulty Wiring".
Mia is elated to be joining the company for another season.
